Your interview experience will differ depending on the role for which you apply. Several include an online assessment, others a group exercise; some candidates interview with partners, and the number of colleagues you meet will vary. Many interviews will be virtual now, but offer the same great experience no matter how far apart you are from your interviewer. Your recruiter will communicate the steps and guide you through the process so you know what to expect.

But regardless of the path or office location you pursue, the process is consistent, fair, and will offer the opportunity for you to demonstrate your skills, learn more about the role, and meet colleagues so you can get to know McKinsey.

So how should you prepare for your interviews? Relax and be yourself. Bring questions for us. Come prepared to share your experiences, knowledge, skills, and accomplishments. We look forward to meeting you.

Some roles, such as executive assistant, business presentation specialist, and certain visual graphics roles, include participation in an Experience Day. This takes place either virtually or at one of our McKinsey Global Services (MGS) offices. Experience Days may involve a role simulation to assess your skills, a group exercise where you’ll collaborate with others to problem-solve, and interviews with McKinsey colleagues to ask questions and learn more about our firm and culture. The day is designed to give you a realistic preview of the role, its responsibilities, and the necessary skills, ensuring that both you and the interviewers can feel confident about whether the role is a good fit.
